Express Entry
Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to
manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. To be eligible
for Express Entry, candidates must meet the requirements of one of the three
immigration programs managed through the system:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
General Eligibility Requirements
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):
Work Experience:At least one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent
part-time) skilled work experience in the last 10 years.
Language Ability: Minimum CLB 7 in English or French (must take an
approved language test).
Education: Canadian high school diploma or equivalent in foreign
education (must be assessed by an approved agency).
Proof of Funds: Sufficient funds to support yourself and your family
in Canada.
Other Factors: Age, job offer, adaptability, etc., are part of a
points-based system (must score at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP
grid).
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP):
Work Experience:At least two years of full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in
a skilled trade within the last five years.
Language Ability: Minimum CLB 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for
reading and writing in English or French (must take an approved language
test).
Job Offer: A valid job offer of full-time employment for at least one
year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a
Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.
Proof of Funds: Sufficient funds to support yourself and your family in Canada (if no valid job offer or already working in Canada).
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC):
Work Experience:At least one year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last three years (must have been legally obtained).
Language Ability: Minimum CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, CLB 5 for NOC B jobs (must take an approved language test).
Education: C No specific educational requirement, but having education can increase your CRS score.
